To find out the effect of a long working day on health, researchers from London monitored volunteers for 10 years. Participants in one group worked no more than 40 hours a week, the other more than 55 hours. It turned out that people who work longer than the accepted norms are more exposed to the risk of dangerous diseases. They are more likely to encounter heart disease, stroke, senile dementia.
Atrial fibrillation among workaholic by the end of the experiment was observed almost one and a half times more often than those who worked moderately. With the fact that in the first group at the beginning of the experiment, some violations in the work of the heart were only for every tenth participant. The scientists concluded that the reason for arrhythmia is the duration of the work. And this deviation, in turn, can lead to a stroke and other diseases.
